Two Killed in Chuadanga Over Land Dispute

On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, around 11:30 AM, a violent clash over a land dispute in the Gulshanpara area of Alukdia Union, Chuadanga Sadar Upazila, resulted in the brutal killing of Taiyab Ali (45) and his son Miraj Hossain (16). The attackers, identified as Rajib Hossain, alias "Golden Raju" (30), and his accomplice Hasan Ali, alias Babu (45), were detained by locals and handed over to the police shortly after the incident.

Eyewitnesses reported that Taiyab and Miraj were drying jute on their land when Raju and Babu confronted them, demanding they leave the property. The confrontation escalated into a heated argument, leading the assailants to attack the father and son with sticks and sharp weapons. Miraj sustained severe injuries and was declared dead upon arrival at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital. Taiyab, critically injured, was being prepared for transfer to Dhaka but succumbed to his injuries around 3:00 PM. Dr. Shapla Khatun, a physician in the emergency department of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, confirmed that Taiyab suffered multiple wounds from sharp weapons, leading to his death due to excessive blood loss. Local residents accused Raju, a returnee from Malaysia, and his cousin Babu of engaging in land grabbing and extortion in the area. They alleged that the duo had established a reign of terror, intimidating locals into silence. Chuadanga Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khaledur Rahman stated that the clash stemmed from a land dispute, resulting in the murder of Taiyab and Miraj with sharp weapons. The police responded promptly, detaining Raju and Babu. After receiving initial medical treatment at the hospital, the suspects were taken into custody. The murder weapon has been seized as evidence, and further legal proceedings are underway.
