Dhaka, May 12, 2025 : Police have detained a teenager in connection with a double murder in Shewrapara, Mirpur, where the victims were his aunts. The information was disclosed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner Nasirul Islam during a press briefing at the DMP Media Center on Monday afternoon.
According to Joint Commissioner Islam, the suspect, Golam Rabbani, visited his aunt’s house in Shewrapara on Friday to collect money for purchasing a bicycle. Seizing an opportunity, he stole money from an almirah in his aunt’s bedroom. When his aunt caught him in the act and threatened to inform others, the enraged teenager attacked her with a knife. He also stabbed another aunt who witnessed the incident.
To ensure their deaths, the suspect crushed their heads with a grinding stone. Police identified and arrested the teenager by analyzing CCTV footage and tracking his movements. The family of the deceased has filed a murder case at the Mirpur Model Police Station in connection with the incident
