Feni, May 11, 2025 : Feni police have arrested Md. Ziaul Haque (36), a junior officer of Southeast Bank’s Silonia Bazar branch, on charges of embezzling customers’ savings.
The arrest was made on Sunday morning (May 11) in the Pathanbari area of Feni Sadar by the Daganbhuiyan police.
Haque, son of Abdul Haque from Salman Haji Bari in Paschim Pathannagar village, Pathannagar Union, Chhagalnaiya Upazila, was apprehended following a complaint filed by the bank’s branch manager, Kamruzzaman. On May 6, a case was registered at Daganbhuiyan police station under sections 409/420 of the Penal Code (Case No. 04), accusing Haque of misappropriating funds deposited by several customers.
According to police sources, Haque allegedly siphoned off customers’ savings through fraudulent means. Following the complaint, a special police team conducted operations across various areas of Feni district over four days, culminating in Haque’s arrest in Feni Sadar.
Confirming the arrest, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Sonagazi-Daganbhuiyan Circle) Taslim Hossain told Kalbela that the suspect would be produced in court after completing necessary legal procedures. He emphasized that the district police remain vigilant in preventing financial fraud and are taking exemplary measures to address such crimes
