A young man named Md. Sohag (40) was beaten and hacked to death in a clash over the control of the scrap business near Mitford Hospital (Sir Salimullah Medical College) in the capital. The incident occurred around 5:30 PM on Wednesday.
Sohag was a scrap trader by profession. His hometown was in Barishal, and he resided in Keraniganj, Dhaka. According to sources from Kotwali Police Station, preliminary inquiries reveal that Sohag was once involved with Jubo Dal, though his latest political affiliation remains unconfirmed. Police reported that in front of Gate No. 3 of Mitford Hospital, individuals named Titu, Monir, Apu Das, Moin, and their unidentified associates attacked Sohag due to a rivalry over controlling the scrap business in the Mitford Road area. They beat him indiscriminately and hacked him, leading to his death. His body has been sent to the Mitford Hospital morgue for autopsy. Kotwali Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md.
