Youth Brandishing Machete in Mohammadpur Arrested by RAB

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a young man named Shubh, alias Hriday (20), in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur Dhaka Udyan area while he was preparing for a robbery. A machete was recovered from his possession.

On Wednesday, Khan Asif Tapu, Senior Assistant Director of RAB-2’s media wing, confirmed the arrest.

According to RAB, based on a tip-off, a team from RAB-2 conducted a special operation in Dhaka Udyan on Tuesday night after learning that several robbers were gathering there with the intent to commit a robbery. Sensing RAB’s presence, the robbers attempted to flee, but Shubh was apprehended with a local weapon.

RAB stated that a video of Shubh brandishing a machete in public recently went viral across various media outlets, causing panic and unrest in the area. During interrogation, Shubh confessed to being an active member of a robbery gang. He admitted to being involved in robbery, theft, mugging, and extortion in Mohammadpur and Adabor areas for a long time. The group had gathered in the area with the intent to carry out a robbery.
