Dhaka, May 14, 2025: In a significant anti-narcotics operation, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-2) arrested two drug traffickers, identified as Md. Masum Billah (28) and Md. Hridoy Khan (28), with 23 kilograms of cannabis in the Bonosree area under Khilgaon Police Station, Dhaka.
The operation, conducted on Tuesday afternoon, also led to the seizure of a private car used for drug transportation.
Acting on a tip-off, RAB-2 intensified surveillance in the Bonosree area and apprehended the duo as they attempted to flee upon noticing the RAB team. Initially, the suspects tried to evade questions about the drugs but later confessed during interrogation. Based on information provided by Md. Masum Billah, RAB recovered 23 kg of cannabis hidden inside sacks in the private car.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects have been involved in the drug trade for a long time, procuring narcotics at low prices from border areas and selling them at higher rates to dealers and users in various parts of the capital. Notably, Md. Masum Billah has two prior drug-related cases filed against him in different police stations, while Md. Hridoy Khan has one drug case registered at Yatrabari Police Station.
RAB-2, guided by its slogan “Bangladesh is My Pride,” has been playing a pivotal role in combating crime since its inception. The elite force has earned public trust by arresting criminals, recovering illegal arms and ammunition, and curbing extortion, terrorism, murder, robbery, abduction, and fraud. RAB’s regular anti-drug operations focus on identifying drug trafficking routes, hotspots, and smugglers to curb the spread of narcotics.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway, and RAB-2 has vowed to continue such operations to combat drug trafficking in the future.
