Saudi Arabia Announces Good News for Overstayed Visit Visa Holders: 30-Day Grace Period to Return Home

Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) has brought relief to expatriates with expired visit visas, announcing a new opportunity for them to return to their home countries legally within 30 days. This initiative began on June 26, 2025, corresponding to the 1st of Muharram in the Hijri calendar, according to a report by the Saudi Gazette.

Under this program, individuals with expired visit visas can apply for a final exit by paying the required fees and fines. The application process must be completed through the government’s electronic platform, ‘Absher,’ using the Tawasul service.

The Jawazat has urged eligible individuals to complete their applications within the 30-day period, warning that failure to do so may result in legal action or additional penalties. This opportunity is specifically for those whose visit visas have expired and who wish to leave Saudi Arabia and return to their home countries.

For those unable to apply independently through the Absher platform, assistance can be sought from trusted individuals, nearby visa service centers, or cyber cafes.

Saudi Arabia has previously offered similar initiatives to allow expatriates to return home peacefully without penalties. The Jawazat has encouraged overstayed visa holders to take advantage of this opportunity to avoid complications.
