Human Chain and Protest Rally in Shahbag Against Vandalism of Durga Temple in Khilgaon

 

On June 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM, the Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote organized a human chain and protest rally in front of the National Museum in Shahbag, Dhaka. Led by Pradeep Kanti De, the event was held to protest the alleged vandalism of the Sarbojanin Shri Shri Durga Temple and its idols near Khilgaon Railway Gate and to demand justice for those responsible. Approximately 40-50 people participated in the program.

Key attendees included Polash Kanti De, Executive Secretary of the Bangladesh Hindu Parishad; Pradeep Kanti De, representative of the Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote; and Monindranath, Acting Secretary of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Parishad. The speakers condemned the incident as part of a broader pattern of communal attacks on minority communities and demanded a thorough investigation and swift justice for the perpetrators. They also called on the government to ensure the safety of minority communities.

The speakers emphasized that such incidents undermine the spirit of religious harmony and coexistence in the country. They reiterated their demand for the formation of a Minority Protection Commission and urged the government to take urgent measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
