Dhaka, May 20, 2025: In a targeted operation in Dhaka’s Gendaria area, the Directorate of Narcotics Control arrested a drug trafficker named Md. Sajal (34) along with 28 bottles of foreign liquor and 106 cans of beer. The operation was conducted on Tuesday (May 20) between 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM by the Dhaka Metro Office (South) team.
According to a press release from the Directorate of Narcotics Control, the raid was carried out based on confidential information under the supervision of Deputy Director Md. Manjurul Islam. The operation was led by Inspector Kazi Habibur Rahman of the Sutrapur Circle, along with other team members. During initial interrogation, Sajal confessed to being involved in the drug trade for the past 5 to 6 months. He revealed that he procured the narcotics from the Gulshan area, stored them at his residence, and stockpiled the foreign liquor and beer for retail sale ahead of the upcoming Eid.
A case has been filed against the suspect under the Narcotics Control Act at the relevant police station. The Directorate of Narcotics Control stated that such operations will continue to curb drug trafficking in the region.
